I've reviewed other conibear traps and I've replaced a few too. Generally ONEIDA traps are the better brand of trap if you do a lot of trapping or they exist in a harsh environment. As a trapper, or as someone trying to control the pest population, if you're setting traps in a dry protected place any brand will do. The ONEIDAs will still work when subject to water.
What sets it apart - This particular trap is made of stainless steel or some other rust resistant material. It's not to say it won't rust, but it's not like other traps where they've got a layer of rust while still even in the package. The trap springs also are bent very slightly on the ends. This normally happens when you use the trap but it does so at the stress of the hinge. ONEIDA has taken the time to do this for you. Finally the saw (the part that rests on the whiskers) has four positions, while most traps have three. The whiskers are also user serviceable. While not easy to do, their particular crimp style means you can replace the whiskers.
