I purchased another trap based on the reviews there and then realized that the trap was too small. This trap is fabulous! Simple setup. I intend to leave it setup and am not worried about trying to collapse the cage although it appears easy to do. I have used peanut butter with a trail of sunflower seeds into the trap. While I am annoyed at the neighbor down the street who has decided to feed the squirrels peanuts during the winter, I now have the trap to catch them, drive them 3-4 miles away, and let them go!
NOTE: be sure to put some newspaper down in the auto since the squirrels tend to "let loose" while in transport and you do not want squirrel pee and poop in your car!

I purchased this trap from Amazon based on price, size, and favorable reviews. My goal is to catch the squirrel or squirrels that are slowly eating all the plastic and rubber under the hood of our Pontiac Vibe. Damage so far is well over a thousand dollars and counting.
I had looked at a fully assembled Havahart trap at Home Depot but passed on it because this model is a few dollars cheaper. Big mistake.
Maybe I'm just a clutz, but I didn't find assembly that easy, and the included directions are muddy and generally poor. I ended up just studying what was before me and assembled the trap without using the printed directions.
I've owned regular traps before and find them much sturdier than this collapsible trap. Unless you really need to save a little space, I'd definitely recommend purchasing a fully assembled trap. If assembled correctly this trap is sturdy enough but not as sturdy as one that's not collapsible.
After a few days I finally did catch a varmint in the trap placed next to the Vibe. It might have been the squirrel, but since he escaped out of the back of the trap I'll never know. There's a piece that has to be inserted at that end to secure the back door, and apparently I did that incorrectly. I've reinstalled the piece and hopefully when I catch the next squirrel he won't get away.
You can release the squirrel or other animal from the front or back of the trap. I won't be releasing from the back of the trap because there is not protection for the trapper's hand while disengaging the door and opening it.
At the side on which you set the trap there is protection for the user's hand, but one must open the spring loaded trap and keep it open by sliding a piece of wood through the trap's mesh. I'm not looking forward to that either.
I'm not thrilled with this trap, but it is a good size for catching squirrels, and my feelings will change if I catch the squirrel(s) that have been eating our car.
